I am kayak guide in river Shambhavi since one and half year. I have done more than 50 kayak trips till the first dam, which is in Palimar.
Only on some special occasion we cross the dam and kayak in the freshwater. Those occasion totally depends on the participants during the trip.
Apart from those occasion, there are times when some friends plans to kayak and camp after the dam.
Camping after the dam is a different experience altogether. The temperature drops down, humidity is less and water is not salty.
This time, three friends and me got into canoe with fishing rods and carried our canoe beyond the dam.
Paddling canoe is not as easy as kayak. It requires good synchronization between the paddlers.
Four of us were going to be on this trip. When we started from Mulki, Srinivas joined me from starting point. Shailesh and Harsha was joining us at Palimar dam.
After paddling for 4 hours we reached the palimar dam. We lifted the canoe and carried it to the other side of the dam.
We started paddling again in the freshwater. The weather was amazing with clouds all over and little bit of drizzling.
After paddling for another 2 hours we reached the campsite. We caught some fish, did campfire and went to bed.
